How To Beat The Devourer Of Stars

After battling your way through the mobs and climbing the Tower of Insolence, you’llface the level 70 Devourer of Stars at the top. ensure tosave at Plato’s Mirage before the encounterandmake any last-minute adjustments to your party composition.

Affinities And Weaknesses

The Devourer of Stars isimmune to and repels all forms of damage except for Almighty, which is your primary means of dealing damage against this boss. However, certain Archetype skills and Synthesis attacks cantemporarily override this resistance, and even apply a one-time weakness, giving you an additional way to chip away at its health.

Ninja or Royal Thief

With the agility of the Thief lineage,Heimsay can dodge most of the boss’s attacks. If unlocked and maxed out, the Royal Thief Archetype will let himdrain all turn icons from the boss with one dodge.

However, you’ll also want toequip him with Dekaja and Vidyartha skillstoremove the boss’s buffs and apply defensive debuffs. TheShadow Dwellers passiveis also useful for boosting Heimsay’s evasion rate.

Tycoon

Strohl’s focus should be ondealing Almighty damage with the Gold Rush ability, supported bypassive skills like Front Boost and Heat Up.

If you aren’t keen on spending cash to deal damage, you canswap in Junah to set up one-time weaknesses. In this composition, theProtagonist becomes the main damage dealer, and you’ll sometimes need to rely on consumables for healing and curing ailments.

Start by using Heimsay’s Vidyartha skill to put a debuffon the boss andHulkenberg’s Formation of Vigor to boost your damage output. Thissets up Strohl and the Protagonist to deal maximum damage to the boss; Strohl’sGold Rush ability also has a high crit rate, soreset the battle until you land onefor an all-important extra Turn Icon in the first round.

The protagonist’sEmerald Vortex can also damage the boss, as it ignores the boss’s repel.

When the boss takes its turn, it willimmediately cast Miasma Whorl, capping party HP at 300for the rest of the fight whilewasting its remaining turns to nullify your buffs and stack its own. That’s round one done without taking damage!

As the cycle repeats, on the Protagonist’s turn,usethe Hero’s Cry ability this time. It’s aone-time-per-battle move that grants four extra turn icons, giving you a total of seven to work with. Use them to reapply your buffs, re-cast Vidyartha, anduse Dekaja to remove the boss’s buffs.

While also using skills to damage the boss, make sure toset up Hulkenberg’s Omni-GuardandHeismay’s Quick Change Artsin preparation for what’s to come next.

By then, the boss will already bearound half HP or lower, at which point it will unleash theGreat Dragon’s Shriek abilityto gain eight turn icons.
