Path of Exile 2’s campaign will take you once again on a journey through Wraeclast, fighting deadly monsters and horrific abominations. As you play through the main story, you’ll find several side quests and optional objectives within each area.
Completing these quests is always worth it, as you’ll get items that will permanently make your character stronger. Below, we’ll take a look at the Slithering Dead side quest in Act 3, including how to start and complete it, and which of the three rewards you should pick at the end.
The Slithering Dead quest willautomatically appear in your quest logwhen entering theJungle Ruins in Act 3for the first time, prompting you to find the source of the Azakh-Kul poison in the area.
To do this, you’ll need toexplore around the Jungle Ruinsuntil you find theentrance to the Venom Crypts, which is rightbeside a Waypoint.
While exploring, you may come across theMighty Silverfistunique enemy. If you decide to fight it, be careful, as most of its attacks will one-shot you. If you manage to take it down, you’ll get aBook of Specialisation, which rewards you withtwo Weapon Set skill points.
Once you’ve found the Venom Crypts, enter it and start exploring.This area is fairly large, so it may take some time before you find your objective. You are looking for aCorpse lying on the ground, which is found in anopen room just after a Checkpoint.
Inspect the Corpseto get the Corpse-Snake Venom. Now, you canreturn to Serviin the Ziggurat Encampment to complete the quest and claim your reward.
Completing this quest will reward you with a choice between three consumable items that each provide apermanent buff to your character. The choices are as follows.
Which Venom Draught you choose depends on how you’re building your character. If you’re playing a Mana-intensive build, then the Draught of Clarity will be the best fit. Alternatively, if you don’t use Mana as much, the Draught of the Veil is a good choice, making it harder for you to be inflicted with ailments that are prevalent throughout the game.
