Slitterheadhas several twists and turns that help carry you through to the end of its convoluted and often aimless story, tossing more challenging encounters at you near the back quarter of its decently sized campaign. While most boss fights will still be samey, the moment-to-moment action is still exhilarating.
Over Limit is one of the better missions in the game, especially before things get even stranger than they already are, offering some fantastic moments that help elevate the threat of the Slitterheads and their ability to mimic humans. Despite following the same-ish formula as other missions, it pays off wonderfully with its pacing and encounters!
Starting Over Limit In Slitterhead
Alex is a locked characterfor theOver Limitmission in Slitterhead, meaning youcan only choose the Companion.We choseEdo,as always, due to hisincredible strength and Burning Edge Skill,which only amplifies that strength further.Julee will also workfor this mission, as herRevive All Skillis always useful.
If you’recomfortable with another Rarity,you canchoose themas well. We feel that Edo and Julee are the two best Rarities in the game, especially when paired with Alex and his ability to deal with tremendous amounts of damage.Everyone aside from Blakeshould be viable here, as you do not want too many range-based Rarities.
Defeat Lisa - Mimic Octopus Slitterhead
As soon as this mission starts, you will face off againstLisa - Mimic Octopus Slitterhead,having herlet out a massive roar,imbuing everyone with aPoison Ward.This essentiallyinflicts you with the Poison Ailment,causing you totake slight damage periodically for a set period.It won’t be too bad, so don’t worry too much.
All in all, this encounter won’t be that challenging. Justpossess people behind her, deliver a few attacks,andjump to someone else when she switches her focusto you.Alex’s Blood Well and Bloody Blastcombo will chunk her health. The same goes forEdo’s Burning Edge and Angel Stepcombo.
Lisa does haveone move that you must keep an eye out for,and it’s when sheflashes a bright red lightbefore swiftlylunging forward with a grab.That flashing light indicates that the incomingmove cannot be guarded against or parried,soget away from her the moment you see it.But aside from that, it’s a relatively straightforward encounter!
Chase Mysterious Woman
Defeating Lisawill trigger a brief cutscene, introducing aMysterious Womanwho will turn into a Slitterhead andflee from the scene,causing you tochase after her.She will leap onto the rooftops, having you useBlood Jump to follow closely behindher, where she will ultimately leap onto the large neon sign with a crown on it.
Use Blood Jump toreach the sign, then chase her further onto the rooftopto have herstop running and begin attackingyou, kickstarting yet another encounter in the mission. You can useBurning Edgehere todeal considerable damage,knocking her down tohalf healthand having her transform into theZebra Octopus Slitterhead.
Defeat Zebra Octopus Slitterhead
Upon transforming into theZebra Octopus Slitterhead,she willlet out a roar,inflicting you with theCorrosion Ward(Level 2),greatly reducing the durability of your Blood Weapon.Fortunately, that won’t matter too much, as you barely have to guard or parry during this encounter.
We recommendconstantly getting behind the Slitterheadandattacking the dangling body,as it willstun it substantially fasterand will allow you to deal tremendous amounts of damage in short bursts. Furthermore, utilizingEdo’s Burning Edgeon eitherhimself or Alexwill enable you tofinish her relatively quickly.
You’ve fought many Zebra Octopus Slitterheads in previous missions, and this one is no different, aside from the Corrosion Ward it places on you at the start of the encounter.Be aggressive, use your Skills, and constantly get behind itto defeat it swiftly!
Follow Lisa’s Presence
From here,Alex will pick up another trace of Lisa’s Presence,having youfollow it down onto the main streets and then through the back alleys.This will ultimately bring you into theempty lot where you acquired Anita,so just head there to run into theMysterious Man.
There will be afew lesser Slitterheads in the lot, alongside the Mysterious Man Slitterhead,makingAlex’s Blood Well and Bloody Blast comboa perfect way to deal with them.After using it the first time, heal upby holding R1/RB to absorb the blood from the ground, thenwait for your Skills to recharge and do it once moreto finish them off quickly.
Yup, you read that correctly, theMysterious Manalso turns into aZebra Octopus Slitterhead.However, this time, it places aPoison Ward(Level 2)on you,moderately damaging you over time.But, as you may have guessed, it won’t matter all that much as you’re able to bully it just as you did last time.
ActivateBurning Edgeand beginspamming Angel Steptodeal massive damageto the Zebra Octopus Slitterhead,stunning it quickly.As it’s stunned,don’t let up on the pressure,allowing you todefeat it in the blink of an eye.If youdidn’t choose Edo,usingAlex’s Blood Well and Bloody Blast combo will also workhere, as well asgetting behind it and targeting its dangling body.
It will have the same attacks as before,so you’re essentiallyapplying the same strategy againto defeat it. This time, however, both of your Rarities will be available from the jump, making it even easier than it already was!
Chase Lisa
Taking down the Zebra Octopus Slitterhead for the second time will haveLisa appear yet again,forcing Alex tochase her down.You willchase her out onto the main street,whereshe will quickly begin making distancebetween you two. You muststay on top of her at all costs.
Themoment Lisa gets too far awayfrom you, atimer will appearon the screen, giving youless than a minute to track her downbefore failing the mission and having to reload the checkpoint. UseBloody Well to pull her backwardand use yourBlood Weapon to lay into her,forcing her to run into the middle of the street.
Once sheruns into the main street,she willsummon a large group of Slitterheadsin, forcing Alex to deal with them. Fortunately, hisBlood Well and Bloody Blast combowill make quick work of them, allowing him todispatch them with ease.From here, you willtrigger another cutscene,leading to the final encounter.
And, sort of unsurprisingly, your final battle in this mission is againstLisa - Mimic Octopus Slitterhead.Again. And, as if you haven’t guessed already,it’s the same encounter from the start of the mission.However, this time, she will place thePoison Ward(Level 2) on you instead of a Level 1 Ward, so that’s… something.
You know what to do here.Activate Burning Edgeandgo berserk with Angel Steps,unleashing a devastating amount of damage on her in mere seconds,stunning her off the rip,allowing you tokeep up your offensive onslaught.Once she recovers, switch toAlexand use hisBlood Well and Bloody Blast comboto finish her off.
We wish this encounter were different, but it sadly isn’t, soapply the same strategy you did earlier,and you will have her taken down in no time!
Over Limit Rewards
Lastly, let’s go over what you get forclearing Over Limit for the first timein Slitterhead.24 Skill Tokenswill be yours, allowing you to power up any Rarity you wish.Keep in mind that they are shared,so once you spend them they cannot be used on another Rarity.
Furthermore,more ‘Talk’ options will become availableupon completing the mission, so ensure youlisten to all the new conversationsbefore doing anything else!
