Your mission inTails Of Iron 2: Whiskers Of Winterfocuses on rebuilding and upgrading Winter’s Edge in preparation for the inevitable battle against the Darkwing menace. With the Smithy, Kitchen, and Tuck’s Emporium shops in good order, it’s time to turn your attention to upgrading your weaponry for the powerful foes to come.
To that end, the “These Blessed Tools” quest will have you helping Rita upgrade her smithing prowess to its maximum potential. However, it’s not a simple matter of collecting better ores or ingots, as these tools must be blessed by the gods so that Rita can create the highest tier of weaponry for you.
How To Help Rita Upgrade Her Tools
The path of main quests opens upafter completing Hammer & Tongs,leaving you to select These Blessed Tools or two other quests.
Once you begin These Blessed Tools,Rita the Smith will ask you to help her get a blessing from the godsat a shrine in The Rift.
Travel to the Rift Docks and speak to Rita,thenfast travel to Bogmire Forgeto cut out some of the travel time on your way to the shrine with a large octopus-like creature, where you’ll find Rita worshiping it.
Speak to Rita and follow her directions to the right tofind a Druidto help with the ritual.
How To Prepare For Merlin’s Ritual
Pass through the areas, clearing or avoiding enemies as you see fit until youreach a trail of herbsleading you through an archway and up intoa new section of The Rift.
Emerge at Merlin’s Hutand fight off the Frog enemies, at which point Merlin will reveal himself. Merlin agrees to help but asks for your help inacquiring a special root from a nearby tower.
Head back toward the shrine, but instead of proceeding up the stairs,keep going left until you reach a locked door to the tower,which will unlock with Merlin’s key.
Defeat the Rift Frogs, then keep heading left until you reach a series of ladders; climb the leftmost ladders and descend through a hatch in the floor using another ladder.
When you reach the bottom,speak to the Moleand take the T-Pass. However, you mustfind a new fuse to access the door it unlocks.
Where To Get A Fuse
Head to theleft portion of the Rift map past the Whale Boneyardand enter the lower caverns marked on your map.
Once there, fight off theFrog and two Tailspinners that attack,then interact with the blinking machine in the center of the room tosnag a Yellow Fuse.
Return to the Mole’s dwelling and speak to it. Once the mole slots the fuse into the box, you’ll receive the Mole Blueprint and thenearby doors will open.
You’ll also receive theDull Mole Sword and Dull Mole Helmet.
Head up the closest ladder,then go leftinto the newly accessible room and defeat the Tailspinners that attack.
Now that the enemies are gone, you canclaim the Hedgehog’s Tea Plant,and then return to the shrine.
Give the Druid the Tea, then prepare todefend Merlin and Rita from the undead enemiesthat attack while they perform the ritual.
The undead enemies only become vulnerable when they get close enough,so be on your guard and avoid their ranged shots, being careful not to let them gang up on you.
Once they’re defeated, Merlin and Rita will complete the ritual, and thank you for your assistance. Head back to Winter’s Edge with Rita to finish her upgrades via the next quest.
What Rewards Do You Get From These Blessed Tools?
In addition to the Dull Mole Sword and Dull Mole Helmet you received earlier, you’ll collect more gear at the end of “These Blessed Tools.”
