What Does Affinity Do?
Affinity is essentially yourcritical hit chance, or your chance to critically hit with an attack. As such, raising your Affinity makes your attacksmore likely to be critical hits. Critical hits deal25 percent more damagethan normal hits.
You can tell when you’ve performed a critical hit by thebright red streakthat appears at the same time as your weapon hits the monster.
By the same token, some weapons may havenegative Affinity. In this case, the negative Affinity percentage is thechance for the weapon to hit for less damage. A negative Affinity hit will deal25 percent less damage.
How To Increase Affinity
Every weapon has a base Affinity stat, but you can alsoincrease your total Affinity through certain skills.Critical Eyeincreases your overall Affinity, whileWeakness Exploitincreases your Affinitywhen attacking a monster’s weak spot.
Critical EyeandWeakness Exploitstack with each other, butAffinity is capped at 100 percent, at which point every attack is a critical hit.
