Summary
Helldivers 2players recently got a brand-new toy to play with in the FRV, an extremely mobile buggy that -just like every new addition recently- has a tendency to kill Helldivers more than help them.It takes one bad bump for the FRV to flip over and explodein a shower of democratic limbs and debris, but the fact that the FRV has an unlimited cap makes calling in another pretty easy.
In fact, it’s so easy that many are now looking at the mech, which has a cap and a pretty lengthy cooldown on top, and wondering what Arrowhead’s excuse is now for not being able to have four mechs on the field at once. Earlier this year, Arrowhead claimed thatthe reason why there was a cap on mechs was down to “resource management”, and that the mech puts a lot more strain on the game’s servers than other stratagems.
Helldivers 2 Fans Want Mech Cap Scrapped After FRV Addition
With the unlimited cap on FMVs, a lot of fans are now calling for the mech cap to be completely scrapped.A Reddit user called _Kilo_One_put the question to the Helldivers subreddit earlier today, claiming that the mech limitations shouldn’t apply anymore thanks to the unlimited use and short cooldown of the FRV.
One of the more understandable complaints is that potentially four people stomping around in mechs could cause games to become unbalanced, but a lot of people seem to think that the fragility of the mechs more than makes up for that potential issue. For example, a user called Glad-Low-1348 says that they can even be “more vulnerable than a Helldiver at times”.
Other users, such as MGSOffcial, claim that mechs can even explode via a dodgy airdrop at times, and removing the cap and shortening the cooldown would make that occurrence a lot less frustrating as a result. Then you have the fact that the mechs have limited ammo, meaning you may’t exactly have one throughout the entirety of a single mission.
Even those that think the cap is fine are calling for some way to extend their longevity on the battlefield, with some calling for a stratagem or weapon that could potentially fix mechs that are destroyed while in use. It would definitely promote teamwork, actually make mechs more useful, and make it less frustrating when one accidentally takes a tumble and blows up. Do it Arrowhead, you know you want to.
