It’s been a roller-coaster year forHelldivers 2. The game launched with a staggering player count, but ahandful of unpopular nerfs, and aPlayStation account requirement on PCresulted inmultiple review bombings.
Despite its issues, constant communication from the development team, built on top of a solid game, meant that the title did walk away with four nominations from this year’s The Game Awards,including Best Ongoing Game and Best Community Support.
Arrowhead is seemingly continuing down the path of goodwill, with the game’s creative director confirming the team is “looking into” one of its most requested features.
Helldivers 2 Customization Could Be Inbound
Players have been calling for armor customization in Helldivers 2 since the game launched, but up until this point, Arrowhead Studios has been focused on new Warbonds and gameplay mechanics, but it seems like that could be about to change.
On Twitter, a user namedDerekhas been asking Helldivers 2 creative director and Arrowhead CEO Johan Pilestedt for armor customization for the last 16 days.
Derek’s constant messages finally got through toPilestedt, who responded to a tweetby simply saying, “We are looking into it :).”
While it’s not quite confirmation that armor customization is coming to Helldivers 2, it’s pretty close to it, as the company’s CEO is unlikely to raise expectations for something only to bring them crashing down further down the line.
Should it be added, it would be the latest in a long line of changes influenced by the game’s community. Afteradmitting that nerfing the flamethrower was a mistake, something which caused an uproar among players, the team reversed its decision. The team alsobuffed a further 30 weapons and 11 stratagemsin a patch known as “the buff everything update” to win back fan sentiment— something which evidently worked,tripling the game’s player count.
