Helldivers 2is one of the most cinematic games you’ll ever play. The sheer chaos of a hot extraction while the music flares in the background, harvesters and voteless emerging from the mist on a seemingly empty street, or getting a 100+ combo with a 500Kg Bomb while saluting – you never know what moments you’ll create.
However, it seems that the Helldivers IP is going to get more cinematic, literally. Earlier today at CES 2025,The Game Awardshost and creator Geoff Keighley revealed thatHelldivers is going to be made into a movieby Sony Pictures. While we don’t know much else about what the movie will entail, it seems fans of Helldivers 2 have started fan-casting parts.
Chris Pratt As Bile Titan
Of course, the Helldivers are canonically faceless soldiers who are easily replaceable, but that didn’t stop the Redditor,2Tired2plfrom jokingly casting Chris Pratt as a Bile Titan. For those who are scratching their heads, Chris Pratt became quite a meme when he was cast as Mario in The Super Mario Bros. Movie.
Since then, people have used the same image Nintendo used to reveal the casting to fan-cast him in the most ridiculous roles. While he actually did a decent job as Mario, it’s still hilarious to think of Pratt starring as one of the largest enemy units in the game. I wonder how good Pratt’s bile spitting impression is.
Laughing it off, the comments primarily suggested that there shouldn’t be any big names or faces in the movies, just nameless Helldivers delivering sweet liberty upon Terminids, Automatons and Illuminate. Sort of like Warhammer 40,000’s animations.
“I truly hope we never see a single face, like a Mandalorian. And every few minutes someone gets taken out, so we never form much of a connection - the only important thing is the mission. Extraction is optional,” suggested one comment.
Who knows? Maybe Ella Purnell would have starred as Eagle-1, if she wasn’ttired of doing video game adaptationsafter Fallout and Arcane. One thing’s for certain, we would love it if Craig Lee Thomas, a.k.a. John Helldiver, was in the movie.
However, some others didn’t mind a few seconds worth of a cameo, where some famous actor immediately gets destroyed after taking off their helmet, like Brad Pitt in the Deadpool movie. It was also revealed that Horizon Zero Dawn will be getting a movie, andGhost of Tsushima will get an animebased on the Legends mode.
