Summary

Grand Theft Autofans have once again had their hopes dashed as a recent post fromRockstar Gameshas debunked a recent theory that suggestedGTA 6news was coming on December 27.

Considering how long it’s beensince the last GTA game released (and re-released, andre-re-released), you’d think that fans wouldn’t have to wait so long for consistent news once GTA 6 was finally announced. I’m sure that’s what most people thought this time last yearwhen the reveal trailer for Rockstar’s long-awaited next game dropped shortly after being leaked.

Cut to more than a year later and that’s not been the case at all. IgnoringTake-Two’s multiple confirmations that GTA 6 is going to launch in Fall 2025, we’ve heard literally nothing concrete about one of the most anticipated games of all time since then. In fact,it looks like we’re going to have gone all of 2024 with no news on Grand Theft Auto 6, despite a lot of players pinning their hopes on December 27.

Sorry GTA Fans, The December 27 Theories Have Been Debunked

As anyone who paid attention to the Moon Theory will be aware of, there has been lots of speculation about when Rockstar would finally give us a bit more information on GTA 6. Sadly, aside from the first time, almost all of the theories that have come out have been incorrect, including the most recent one that pinned hopes on December 27.

If you’re wondering what the heck December 27 has to do with GTA 6, the theory started when aRockstar Games employee shared a holiday goodie bag they’d received from the studio. Fans took a very close look at the image and found what seemed to be allusions to the number 27 and hints at Florida (which Vice City is based on),something that was a little backed up by some deleted Instagram posts.

While the 27 theory isn’t the furthest GTA fans have gone when it comes to seeing clues and hints, there are some that even took the shape of the cat’s fur to be a hint towards December 27.

Now that the holy day is finally here, though, it seems that it was another lot of copium.Rockstar did actually tweet earlier in the day, but it was to remind fans that its holiday sale was nearly over, dashing hopes that we’d be getting news at any point today.Although GTA fans are used to this by now, a lot are clearly disappointed.

Take Redditor hosseinhx77,who posted on the GTA 6 subreddit and made it clear that they were let down that some new screenshots to wrap up the year were “too much to ask for"from Rockstar. Others have been a bit more positive, but thegeneral sentiment in that thread and many other posts is that it’s a shame we’ve had no updates or newson something that’s due out in less than a year.
