As Fortnite has grown in popularity over the years and seen more and more new players joining late into the game’s lifespan, Epic has started laying the groundwork for popular skins, crossovers, and items from Battle Passes to have a chance of returning.Not only has it recently confirmed that newer Battle Pass rewards will be purchasable in the shop, but it’s also started remixing classic skins from the early days.
Epic’s approach to re-selling old skins wasarguably perfected with the remade variants we saw one chapter ago in Fortnite Remix, but it just controversially took things one step further by bringing back two extremely rare skins from Season 1 -Renegade Raider and Aerial Assault Trooper.
Fortnite Players Are Split On Renegade Raider’s Return
After a few weeks of rumours, Epic announced late last night that Season 1’s incredibly sought-after Renegade Raider and Aerial Assault Trooper skins arebeing added back to the Item Shop after more than 2,500 days. There are a few caveats, though,as both skins and their accessories can only be purchased after earning a certain amount of XP.
Despite the requirements attached to the skin and the fact that Epic has confirmed exclusive styles for those who originally owned the skin, the return of Renegade Raider and Aerial Assault Trooper isn’t being taken so well. With both previously only being purchasable in Season 1 of Fortnite (technically its second),they were considered relics for true veteran players and something that shouldn’t return.
This, combined with how many other Fortnite skins could have been picked to be brought back, has made Renegade Raider and Aerial Assault Trooper pretty controversial. Over on Twitter,popular Fortnite insider shiina pointed out that both skins are about to lose their aura entirely now that anyone can have them.
On the other hand, a lot of players seem pretty happy to see the pair return,with a popular post on the Fortnite subreddit having a lot more positive reactions, or at least not being as annoyed about it. In fact, one of the main responses I’ve seen is acknowledgements that Renegade Trooper and Aerial Assault are boring skins that wouldn’t actually be popular now.
