Summary
Fortniteis fully in the holiday spirit, with its annual Winterfest celebration happening in-game.Beyond defrosting a massive block of ice to reveal none other than Mariah Carey, the game has alsomanaged to add Santa skins for Snoop Dogg and Shaq. We are alsounsure what Shaq has to do with Christmas, but it’s festive.
And, no,Skibidi Toilet isn’t part of these festivities.
That said, like any major Fortnite event, there are in-game quests and other POIs (Points of Interest) for players to experience. Unfortunately, it appears that not every player is being a “Good Elf,” and gamers are tired of not being able to even begin the questline.
Fortnite Santa Is Aware Of You Being Naughty
As discussed in a Reddit thread, fans are hoping that a “Safe Zone” is added around the quest NPCs so that players begin them without being killed immediately by other players.
“Love how they programmed a safe zone around Mariah Carey, but they’ve never done a safe zone around NPCs for quests,“the thread’s top comment read. Indeed, some of Fortnite’s big events do have a “No-Kill” zone, so that everyone can pay attention.
Another set of commenters suggestedthat players try to load into a lobby of bots to have more control of the situation. Otherssuggested running duos or trios for added protection.
Of course, the best possible result would be what this user experienced with a random stranger.
I was killed on my first game trying to do this. My next game, I ended up hiding behind some scrap while a Guff was talking to Sgt. Winter, I ended up coming out and instead of him killing me despite having weapons, he hugged me and did multiple crouches, then emoted together. Another dude came over, and we did the same song and dance with him. I like it when people relax, when there’s a quest everyone has to do.
Only time will tell if Epic decides to do something so that players can play in peace. If not, hopefully enough players will get the memo to be kind to their fellow Fortniters. It’s Christmas, gosh darn it.
