Although Fortnite’s massive and seemingly unending library of crossovers, collaborations, and original skins means thatplayers are never short of styles to pick from, it seems thatEpicis only just getting started with customisation options. That was proven just a few days ago whenthe long-awaited Kicks update dropped a bunch of different shoes were added to the Item Shop.
Kicks have been rumoured to be in the works for quite some time now, and fans have been looking forward to getting their hands (or would that be grippers?) on them. Now that they’re here, though, it seems that the reaction isn’t quite as positive as you might think, with players calling them out for a variety of reasons.
Fortnite Community Think The Kicks Are Too Expensive
Over on the Fortnite Battle Royale subreddit,many of the top posts over the last few days have been calling out the Kicks. The most obvious reason fans aren’t happy is due to their surprisingly high price,with each pair of shoes costing between 800 and 1,000 V-Bucksas of the time of writing.
A lot of players think that this is simply too much for what they are, as they’re approaching the same cost as a whole skin and are more than most emotes. While some players,such as Redditor Kral_Tacos, are simply asking Epic to reduce the price by as much as 50 percent, others are calling out the Kicksfor not offering styles for the same shoes that are just in different colours.
You do at least get a pair of Jordans with the Fortnite Remix Battle Pass,so you’re halfway to recreating that infamous Dragon Ball Z meme.
That’s not the only major issue that the Fortnite community is having with Kicks so far, as they’re also not happy about the lack of compatibility with certain skins. A lot of Fortnite characters can’t actually wear the Kicks right now,which was only made more annoying when players raised that a lot of skins had their compatibility removedin a recent update.
While Epic has confirmed that more characters are going to become compatible with Kicks over time, it seems that the pricing of the shoes is likely going to remain the same. A lot of players have already saidthere’s no way they’ll pay that much for virtual shoes, so here’s hoping Epic budges in the near future.
