Final Fantasy 7 Rebirthproducer Yoshinori Kitase has confirmed that theRemake’s third and final part won’t be exclusive to thePS6, suggesting that it’ll launch during the current generation.

Considering how longFinal Fantasyfans waited to finally getconfirmation that a remake of Final Fantasy 7 was in development, it’s a little wild to think about how fastSquare Enixhas managed to get through two-thirds of the project. Since 2020, we’ve had two massive RPGs,with the third and final part already well into development.

With that being said, there was agenerational gap between the first and second parts of the Final Fantasy 7 Remake trilogy. With games taking so long to develop now, that’s left a lot of fans wondering if Remake Part 3 is going to end up launching on the PS6 and if it’s going to be exclusive to that console.

Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3 Will Seemingly Launch This Generation

As it turns out, though, that isn’t going to be an issue. As reported by VGC, series producer Yoshinori Kitase has confirmed that won’t be the case, although his wording does leave some room for interpretation. While speaking to 4Gamer, Kitase was notified of fans being worried about the next game being exclusive to PlayStation’s “next-generation console”.

In response, Kitase laughed the comment off and said, “No, you may rest assured about that one”, seemingly confirming that Remake Part 3 isn’t going to be a PS6 exclusive. That being said, Kitase’s response is a little short and doesn’t really go into much detail, so it’s not entirely clear what he’s telling us not to worry about.

The most likely outcome is that Kitase was saying that Remake Part 3 isn’t going to launch exclusively for the next generation of consoles plural and will be available this generation on PS5 and similar consoles. The other interpretation of the comment is that Remake Part 3 won’t be a PlayStation console exclusive, and will be available for Xbox and PC at launch as well.

Both of these interpretations could also be true, asSquare Enix has made it clear that it’s less interested in exclusives going forward. We don’t know if a deal was already signed for the third part of Remake, though, so we’ll have to see what Kitase was referring to when he said not to worry.
