Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth’s Steam Launch Is Record-Breaking

Only two other Square Enix games have higher concurrent player records

At the time of writing, there are 39,377 Steam users playing Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth. The weekend isn’t over yet either, so it’s very possible that we’ll see its peak player count rise too. If it manages to surpass 45,357 players, then it will beat Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake’s record.

These figures are especially impressive when you consider that the game wascracked almost immediately after launch, resulting in a lot of people pirating the game,

Of course, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth’s PC launch also means that players are able to mod it, at long last. A few mods have been shared onNexus Modsalready, mostly focussed on the game’s performance, as well as a few slight aesthetic changes.

This PC launch comes a little under a year after the game’s initial release onPlayStation 5. This was a much quicker turnaround thanFinal Fantasy 7 Remake, which took almost two years to come to PC.
