Summary

Final Fantasy 14 Patch 7.1has been one heck of a mixed bag so far. While there have been pretty disappointing aspects, such as the changes to jobs like Dragoon and Gunbreaker, there have also been a lot of reasons to be excited. Patch 7.1’s introduction ofthe Echoes of Vana’Diel Alliance Raid seriesis one such reason, and now that fans have had time to jump in and get splattered across the ground, opinions have started coming out on social media.

Final Fantasy 14 fans can be a hard lot to please sometimes, but it seems as though Yoshi-P and the gang have managed to nail both the Jueno: The First Walk raid, and the new Yeweyawata Field Station MSQ dungeon. The Alliance Raid in particular is proving to be very popular among fans, with the vast majority of players talking about how much they love it.

Final Fantasy 14 Patch 7.1’s New Alliance Raid Is Tough As Nails, But Fans Love It

A lot of the praise stems from the increased difficulty of the Alliance Raid, which is somethingYoshi-P recently claimed he’d increase in a recent interview, following positive feedback from Dawntrail. He wasn’t kidding either, as each boss in the raid has some truly diabolical tricks up its sleeve that more casual players may not have come across. You actually have to use interrupts in this one!

One such player happy with the difficultyis Twitter user FeristalJ, who thanks the developers for “treating players like they’ve gone through multiple expansions”, and can therefore handle more stressful fights. The replies to that tweet are full of other fans saying that the raid’s bosses “had me on my toes the entire fight” and that it “smacked me in my face”, but they loved every second.

It’s so popular thatsome are even calling it their favorite in the entire game, though it wasn’t particularly hard to one-up the Myths of the Realm series. Still, it’s a good sign that Final Fantasy 14 is heading in the right direction when it comes to difficulty, despite all the complaints, and that Yoshi-P and his team still have the ability to throw us interesting mechanics and easily accessible fights that make casual players sweat a little.
