Summary

Dynasty Warriors Originstakes you back to the end of the Eastern Han Dynasty, a turbulent time in Chinese history. Warriors from all factions and origins come together or against each other to bring an end to the chaos.

You play a customizable character that plays a part in these historical battles, from the Yellow Turban Rebellion to the Battle of Chibi. Along the way, you’ll encounter many familiar faces of the Dynasty Warriors series, from the leaders of the budding factions to their associates. All of them are fully voiced in English and Japanese.

The Protagonist, also known as Ziluan in Dynasty Warriors: Origins.

Jun Fukuyama

Your character gets a few voice lines during commands and musou attacks. Aside from that, they are mostly mute during major cutscenes and interactions with the other characters in the story. You’ll often hear your character announce the defeat of an enemy officer or other vocals on the battlefield.

The English voice actor, John Patneaude, has played in other video game roles, such as Renault fromUnicorn Overlordand Kinichi fromGenshin Impact. The Japanese voice actor, or seiyu, is Jun Fukuyama, who has played roles such as Lelouch from Code Geass and Koro-Sensei from Assassination Classroom.

The Long-haired man, Zhang Jiao in Dynasty Warriors: Origins.

Ryota Takeuchi

Zhang Jiao, leader of the Yellow Turbans, appears alongside you in the prologue. His rise to power during Yellow Turban Rebellion and his eventual downfall mark the beginning and end of the first third of Dynasty Warriors Origins. Along with a revamped design from his previously exaggerated looks, Zhang Jiao still wields his formidable staff.

He is voiced by Richard Henry, in his first major character role, along with Ryota Takeuchi, who has done several great voice work for anime, like The Ancient Magus' Bride as Elias Ainsworth and Darui fromNaruto. He also does the Japanese dub for Reaper fromOverwatch.

The young doctor, Yuanha in Dynasty Warriors: Origins.

Saku Hyuga

You meet Yuanhua, a doctor and herb seller searching for special herbs used by the leader of the Yellow Turbans. He then becomes a traveling companion for you as you traverse the Overworld of China, and he’s often the source of several side objectives and quests.

Christian Banas voices Yuanhua in English, who has acted in films like Ballerina as Myeong-sik. He has also voiced in video games such asDying Light 2as Steve and Dawn of the Monsters as Kiwa. Saku Hyuga voices Yuanhua in Japanese, portrayed Cello Morceau in Mashle, and voiced another character, the Noble Young Man in Dynasty Warriors 9.

The mysterious woman, Zhuhe in Dynasty Warriors: Origins.

Ami Matsushima

Zhuhe is a mysterious young woman connected to the past of your character. As you journey through the conflicts of the late Han period, you will uncover more and more of your memories and the connection they have with her.

Zhuhe is voiced in English by Noelle Fabian, who has performed several live-action roles in First Kill, The Rising, and Grease Live on TV. She also did several anime roles for Ben-To, Space Dandy, and Red Data Girl as Ayumi. Her seiyu, Ami, has performed several roles in thePersonaseries and has done many other minor parts in other anime, like RPG real-estate and Fluffy Paradise.

The Mysterious Railuan in Dynasty Warriors: Origins.

Reiji Kawashima

An odd figure that also came from your character’s past. He is very cryptic, to say the least, but not too much has been revealed about him or his direct connections to the protagonist. He appears frequently while still leaving the mystery engaging.

He is voiced in English by John Henry Kurtz, who played the voice of Wolf fromFire Emblem Heroes. Reiji Kawashima is the seiyu for this character, and he voiced several characters in anime from Jonas from Sugar Apple Fairy Tale, Finn Ames from Mashle, and Blade from Classroom of Heroes.

Cao Cao, the leader of Wer in Dynasty Warriors: Origins.

Yohei Azakami

The leader of the Wei faction and the de facto tactical leader of the coalition that battles against the Yellow Turban Rebellion. Unlike previous installments of Dynasty Warriors, this Cao Cao is introduced much younger, similar to the iteration of Nobunaga from Samurai Warriors 5.

Brent Mukai voices Cao Cao in the English script. Brent’s other voice roles include Vogroth from Dragon Age Veilguard, and Kaiju No.8 as one of the antagonistic monsters. In the Japanese translation, Yohei Azakami voices Cao Cao. He has also voiced Shade fromVisions of Mana, Shiraki from Terminator Zero, and Matsukaze from Dr. Stone.

Xiahou Dun in Dynasty Warriors: Origins.

Kazuya Nakai

Xiahou Dun is the mainline warrior/champion of the Wei faction and Cao Cao’s loyal cousin. He has been a significant member of Cao Cao’s faction since the First Dynasty Warriors. Xiahou Dun is known for his proficient sword skills and the eye injury he earned in battle. He returns in Dynasty Warriors Origins as one of the many battle companions you can bring.

Xiahou Dun’s English voice actor, Daniel Walton, has portrayed other characters, such as Laios’s father from Delicious in Dungeon and Fighter F from Go! Go! Loser Ranger!. Kazuya Nakai returns to portray Xiahou Dun as he did for the entire Dynasty Warriors series. He has also done other iconic action characters, from Mugen in Samurai Champloo to Masamune Date from Sengoku Basara.

Wei’s strategist, Guo Jia in Dynasty Warriors: Origins.

Daichi Kanbura

Guo Jia returns with several significant moments as the strategist of Cao Cao. Maintaining the roles he usually has by Cao Cao’s side, he sticks around until his inevitable demise from illness long before the climactic battle at Chibi.

Guo Jia’s English voice actor is Andrew Danish, who has done several roles, like Slinky Pete from the LittleBigPlanet Toy Story installment and Chien Pourri as Rusty. Daichi Kanbura returns as the main voice of Guo Jia in the Japanese dub. His filmography includes several minor roles in Demon Slayer, Campione, and Clannad.

The mighty Zhang Liao in Dynasty Warriors: Origins.

Hirofumi Tanaka

One of the fiercest warriors of the Three Kingdoms era. He started as a vassal of Dong Zhuo, before joining Lu Bu’s faction. He would ultimately become one of the most prominent members of Cao Cao’s forces in the Wei kingdom.

Mark Whitten voiced Zhang Liao in the English dub. He has also played several video game roles, such as Lizard inMarvel’s Spider-Man 2and Percival in theGranblue Fantasy series. Hirofumi Tanaka has been Zhang Liao’s seiyu since his debut appearance in Dynasty Warriors 3 and returns for the role in Dynasty Warriors Origins.

The Tiger of Jiangdong, Sun Jian in Dynasty Warriors: Origins.

Yasuhiko Tokuyama

Head of the Sun family and the leading member of the Wu faction. Sun Jian is also known as the Tiger of Jiangdong and played a significant part in fighting off the Yellow Turban Rebellion, building the foundation of his sons' powers in the early days of the Three Kingdoms era.

Sun Jian is voiced in English by Owen Thomas, who’s done roles inRed Dead Redemption 2and Fallout 76. Prominent characters he’s voiced include Omid from the Telltale Walking Dead series. Yasuhiko Tokuyama returns as the voice actor of Sun Jian, being his main seiyu since his debut in Dynasty Warriors 2.
