Summary
A talentedDragon Ball: Sparking Zerofan has created a mod that gives Frieza his latest transformation from theDragon Ball Supermanga - Black Frieza.
While Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero’s launch roster is close to being the stuff of dreamsthanks to itincluding nearly everyone from Dragon Ball Z, Super, and GT, it’s fair to say there are a few areas where it could be improved.Ignoring the Super 17 and OG Dragon Ball elephants in the room, the biggest omissions come from the Dragon Ball Super manga.
Dragon Ball Super’s anime might have ended at the Tournament of Power (which is very well-represented in Sparking), but the manga’s story has gone far beyond that point and introduced a bunch of new characters alongside powerful forms for several fan favourites. We’ll likely never get to see that officially in Sparking Zero, but that’s not a problem thanks to dedicated fans.
This Sparking Zero Mod Is The Closest We’ll Get To Black Frieza Being Playable
Ever since Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero launched, modders have been doing Shenron’s work andputting in a bunch of characters and skins that weren’t included in the base game. While some of that stuff could eventually be officially added, there’s one particularly interesting mod that’s unlikely to get an official adaptation -Black Frieza from the Dragon Ball Super manga.
For those that don’t know, one of the most recent arcs in the Super manga ended with Frieza showing up and one-shotting Ultra Instinct Goku and Ultra Ego Vegeta. Frieza’s absurdly powerful transformation hasn’t been seen since, but that hasn’t stoppedNexus Mods creator Seven (as uploaded by lildxve) from creating a mod that adds him to Sparking Zero.
Surprisingly, Seven’s mod doesn’t completely replace the Golden transformation and actually lets you choose between the two forms. A nice touch considering replacing it would have likely been easier.
The mod, which was actually showcased by Seven over on YouTube, gives Frieza (Super) his terrifying Black transformation, complete with a much darker aura. Although the Black Frieza mod basically acts as a skin that uses Golden Frieza’s moveset and, unsurprisingly, doesn’t have any custom moves attached, it’s still very impressive and the closest we’re going to get to the form appearing in a game.
