Dragon Age:The Veilguardhas its fair share of issues. While the combat and visuals are undeniably great, players have been complaining about the dialogue and relationships with companions. Considering it’s a main standpoint of the series, it’s disappointing that it was so lackluster in the latest installment.
Apart from that, there are some mechanics that the game just doesn’t tell players about. For instance,smashing crates and pots is the best way to get resources. However, it seems there’s another mechanic that most players completely missed, and it has to do with the faction merchants and the reputation you gain from trading with them.
Faction Has Wares If You Have Reputation
Whenever you happen to find yourself at a faction headquarters, you’re probably going to stop by the vendor to see if they have anything neat in store, and also sell off all the junk you collected throughout your journey. BioWare gave us a neat little “Sell All” prompt to make this process a bit easier, and quickly gain a bit of reputation with said faction.
However, it seems that this isn’t the most efficient way to gain reputation. As spotted bySirToxe on Reddit, you gain more reputation for faction related items if you sell them to the respective faction vendor. It seems not many players, including myself, knew about this. “I noticed that for example the Grey Warden faction vendor would give 15 reputation for a darkspawn related valuable and every other vendor would only give 3,” said their post.
Some of the comments were surprised to learn of this feature, especially once they were well into the game. “Wish I stayed happily ignorant of this feature. Micromanag[ing] junk loot isn’t my idea of fun,” said one. However, if you have made considerable progress in the game and are worried about reaching the max reputation with a faction, it seems it’s not that big of a deal. “In my experience you don’t need to. I finished the game with all factions at 3 stars - though I did make a couple of specific trips to “sell all” to factions that needed bolstering,” reassured one of the comments.
If you’re one of those players who really likes to min-max their playthrough, then you can opt to sell faction related valuables separately, but it seems that spreading it out enough will get you to maximum reputation with all factions by the end.

Dragon Age: The Veilguard is the long-awaited fourth game in the fantasy RPG series from BioWare formerly known as Dragon Age: Dreadwolf. A direct sequel to Inquisition, it focuses on red lyrium and Solas, the aforementioned Dread Wolf.
