Summary
Just beforeDragon Age: The Veilguard’s launch, fans were hit with a bombshell -world states were, mostly, no more. The Veilguard was the first sequel to not let us import all of the decisions we made in the previous games, only letting us carry over three decisions we made in Inquisition.
For the most part, The Veilguard writes around these decisions, leaving things like codex entries vague enough to account for most decisions. However,as we’ve covered previously, this is not always the case, and there are a few instances of the game saying something that contradicts some outcomes. So, a fan has done something about it.
This Dragon Age: The Veilguard Mod Brings Back World States
The modder has reworded various codex entries and added different variations based on each decision
World State Codex Overhaulwas created by Nexus Mods user thornbirch. Through the different examples on the mod page, you can see how different codex entries and missives have been reworded, with the mod including different versions based on your particular world state.
Taking a look at the mod’s files, we can see that it lets you account for the following choices:
This means that, for example, you might see a codex entry referring to Divine Victoria by name, reflecting who got the Sunburst Throne out of Cassandra, Leliana, and Vivienne. There’s even a change that’s specific to Inquisitors who romanced Cassandra and then saw her become Divine, since that would impact the relationship.
The mod also makes other changes to some codex entries. In the examples, we can see that the threat that Ferelden is facing has been toned down, with a new line stating that, “Much of Denerim has reverted to its state during the worst of the Fifth Blight”. This comes after many fans were frustrated over The Veilguard seemingly wiping out Ferelden offscreen, since we all went to great lengths to save it inDragon Age: Origins.
In any case, this mod should address some fan concerns. It’s been downloaded almost 200 times already and seems to be a hit with those who are using it.
