Summary
Dragon Age: The Veilguardappears to have just received its final major update. With Patch 5 now live,BioWaresays that it will be moving to “monitor for any game-breaking bugs”, suggesting that we won’t be getting any new features or many other changes at all.
While this isn’t overly surprising for an offline single-player RPG thatwe already knew wouldn’t be getting DLC, it does mean that some fan-requested features will not be added to the game. This includes the Golden Nug, a New Game Plus feature added toDragon Age: Inquisitionafter its own launch, that let you share loot and collectables across different save files.
Dragon Age: The Veilguard Patch 5 Is Out Now
BioWare will only address “game-breaking bugs” from now on
“Thank you all for playing Dragon Age: The Veilguard,” the latestpatch notesopen. “We were so happy with the game’s stability at launch and hope you have enjoyed our Quality of Life patches since then. With the game being in a stable place, we are moving to monitor for any game-breaking bugs should those occur. Dareth shiral!”
“Dareth shiral” is how the Dalish elves say goodbye in the Dragon Age universe.
Sure enough, we were already warned that there would be no DLC because BioWare is now focussing on Mass Effect 5. However, fans did have ideas for new features that could be added. While some were always a bit unrealistic, like new story elements or even campaigns, there were hopes that we’d get a way to share all of the costumes we’ve accumulated between our characters. Some also wanted improvements to the character creator, but it seems that this won’t be happening now.
After The Veilguard dropped, it appears that the team moved on quite quickly. One of The Veilguard’s directors, Corinne Busche, evenleft BioWare to work on another RPG. So, it seems that they were telling the truth about no DLC after all, making The Veilguard the first Dragon Age game to get no expansions.
As for this latest patch, it’s made a bunch of bug fixes. This includes fixes for character clipping, dialogue not working as intended, and a quest not triggering properly.
