Summary

Dragon Age: The Veilguardis notable because you can romance every single companion you recruit on your journey to save Thedas, a first for the series. However, that hasn’t been enough to satiate the masses of Dragon Age players who could and would fall for a mass-murdering terrorist if it was an option. Anders… I miss you.

A thread on Reddit about this very subject recently arose, penned by dingdongdipdop. The original poster expresses their desire for Ashur, or ‘The Viper’ as he’s known to the ordinary people of Minrathous. This is a popular choice among commenters too, with a particular appreciation for Ashur’s voice, which is brought to you by the ever-popular Matthew Mercer.

Romance the World

Another choice that crops up a lot in the comments is Viago De Riva of the Antivan Crows. Of course, Viago is sworn to his beloved Andarateia Cantori (Teia) and, asymtatak says, “Teia would put her own contract on you,” if you were to make advances towards Viago. Andarateia herself also has a couple of fans in the thread, proving that accented assassins remain popular with the Dragon Age fandom. Zevran paved the way.

“Teia could step on my neck and I’d thank her,” asBuffDuckDuckTimeso eloquently put it. “She could also take me out on a date, or with a dagger, I don’t mind,” saysblood_feather. I’ll be the voice of reason here and say that being violently murdered isn’t all that it’s cracked up to be.

There are several other mentions in the thread, including Evka and Antoine (a package deal, presumably), Felassan, Solas and Irelin. There are also some worrisome ‘hear me outs’ like Vorgoth, the Mourn Watch’s hooded lich. Nobody seems to address the fact that Vorgoth is the way they are, but perhaps Rook and their companions can see beneath the hood in ways the player can’t, and Vorgoth is actually a real looker. Some seem to beattracted to Ghilan’nain and her various horrific appendages… to each their own.

Unfortunately, these fantasies will have to remain unfulfilled. Dragon Age: The Veilguard doesn’t allow you to evenflirt with non-companion characters, something that’s unusual for the series. In past instalments, there were always a couple of potential non-companion romantic encounters or light flirtations, like with Lace Harding in Dragon Age: Inquisition. All of you Vorgoth lovers will have to wait until the fan fiction starts releasing.
