As soon asDragon Age: The Veilguardwas re-revealed to the world, fans were divided on its visuals. Character and monster designs were noticeably more stylised than they were in previous titles, and the overall aesthetic was much brighter - both in terms of tone and colour palette.
Now that the game is in our hands, there are certainly darker areas of Thedas, but one thing that’s unavoidable is all of the purple everywhere. Many areas seem to have a purple filter put over them, making them incredibly vibrant and adding to the brighter feel of Dragon Age: The Veilguard.

Dragon Age: The Veilguard Players Are Modding Out All Of The Purple
Dark Fantasy LUT has amassed more than 7,000 downloads at the time of writing - not bad for a game that’s been out for a little over a week. It’s pretty unsurprising though, considering how many fans were vocal in their distaste for how bright The Veilguard is.
As you can see in the screenshots, it gives the environments a more grounded appearance. You can still see some of the magic there, which makes sense for that particular area, but it certainly tones down the colour palette.
The purple-ness of The Veilguard is hardly the only design choice that’s come under fire, however. In the run-up to launch,BioWarefound itself defendingredesigns for the darkspawn, as well asthe fan-favourite returning character, Morrigan. In the former’s case, it’s because they work a little differently this time around, and with Morrigan, it’s because ten years have passed since we saw her last - the woman finally got some new clothes.

Dragon Age: The Veilguard is the long-awaited fourth game in the fantasy RPG series from BioWare formerly known as Dragon Age: Dreadwolf. A direct sequel to Inquisition, it focuses on red lyrium and Solas, the aforementioned Dread Wolf.
