Summary
Dragon Age: The Veilguard’s character creator works a little differently than in previous games. InDragon Age: OriginsandInquisition, the race you selected determines your backstory, setting out your place in the world and perhaps giving you a different motivation in the story.
The Veilguard, however, opted for factions instead of backgrounds. None of the factions are restricted by race either, so it often feels that the fact that you’re a Grey Warden is more important than you being an elf, or whatever combination you picked. Frustratingly, this often means that we don’t know key facts about our character - like whether or not an elven Rook is Dalish - until dialogue confirms otherwise.
That’s where this mod comes in.Dalish Elf Rook - Dialogue Editsby Nexus Mods user flowersforthemachines lets elven Rooks of all backgrounds make it clear that they are Dalish through dialogue options. Usually, dialogue like this is restricted to elven Veil Jumpers, so this mod makes the lines appear regardless of what your Rook’s job is.
Dragon Age: The Veilguard Mod Lets You Actually Be A Dalish Elf
That vallaslin isn’t just for show
“When I first played DAVG, I was kind of disappointed my Rook couldn’t be Dalish. Turns out, you’re able to be Dalish - but only if you are a Veil Jumper! Which the game doesn’t tell you about at all,” says the mod author.
Right now, the mod adds in five lines of dialogue that were previously locked behind the Veil Jumper background - even though there’s no reason a Dalish elf couldn’t be from most of the other factions. A future update will also add references to the party banter, so you get the full Dalish experience without having to be a Veil Jumper.
If you’re looking for other mods that give you more freedom as you play, there are a few to be found. Recently, we covered the mod thatlets you romance Lucanis regardless of the early-game decision you madeconcerning the fate of Treviso. Another modadds some reactivity to decisions you made in Inquisition.
