Summary

Dead Rising Deluxe Remasterhas finally received its first update since launching in September, with one of the main additions being a “Casual” difficulty mode that makes things even easier.

Considering how longDead Risingfans spentthinking that the series was six feet under for good, it’s a little wild to think that it wasfinally revived a few months ago with Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster. Time has really sped by since the digital version of the game released, and it’s finally being metwith a physical edition that just dropped today.

Alongside releasing outside of digital storefronts,Capcom also finally dropped the first patch for the game, which aims to fix a number of bugs, add support for the PS5 Pro, and more. While it’s already good news that Dead Rising is getting some extra attention after launch, there’s one more particularly interesting thing about the patch - a new difficulty mode.

Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster is mostly incredibly faithful to the original game, but it does stumble a bit when it comes to replicating the difficultyas it’s a much easier game overall thanks to sped-up levelling and streamlined controls. With that in mind, fans have been begging Capcom to add an option for a Hardcore difficulty setting that’s more in-line with the 2006 game.

Well, that’s not what just happened. As part of Deluxe Remaster’s first update, a new difficulty mode was indeed added, but it’s one that actually makes the game even easier. The new “Casual” difficulty mode, which was highlighted by Dead Rising historian STiP0, makes Frank level up faster and makes combat “easier”.

This is despite the fact that you can reach Level 10 with ease before even properly setting foot in Willamette.

The changes are a little vague at the moment, but it’s clear thatCapcomwants to open the door for anyone to play Deluxe Remaster. Difficulty modes are never a bad thing, but it is a little funny that a gamethat most were saying was too easyis now getting a mode that doubles down on that fact.

While I’m sure that some Dead Rising fans (myself included) are rolling their eyes a bit at the Casual difficulty mode, it does at least suggest that Capcom is open to a harder option in the future. If it can be made easier, it can surely also be made more difficult, after all.
