Dead by Daylight’snewest chapter,Doomed Course, is off to a rocky start. A week on from launch, it sits at “Mostly Negative” reviews on Steam, with many citing the litany of bugs plaguing its new Killer, The Houndmaster.

What The Reviews Are Saying

“This chapter introduces a new Killer to the game, The Buggy Mess,” VitherMaster puts it plainly.

“If there’s one Killer that has been the buggiest and jankiest in DbD history it’s gotta be The Twins, but Houndmaster is ON A WHOLE OTHER LEVEL,” WisdomWangle writes in their scathing review.

The Houndmaster, as you may guess from their name,can use her dog to chase, track, and grip survivors. The idea is that they’ll bring survivors back to you so that you can hook them, but as pointed out by several fans on the subreddit, the dog is incredibly janky at the moment, often getting stuck or even pulling survivorsawayfrom you.

However, even if the dog works as intended, players point out that it has a whole slew of “overbalanced” drawbacks that make the Houndmaster a less viable Killer than alternatives like Wesker or The Nurse.

Others also note that The Houndmaster has a higher skill ceiling than most other Killers, but that she “isn’t even particularly good if played well”.

The reviews have risen from “Overwhelmingly Negative” in the last few hours at least, but it’s clear that the community isn’t taking well to this new chapter so far.
