Destiny 2is celebrating this holiday season with its winter-themed Dawning event. Eva Levante is back in the Tower with her signature holiday oven, event upgrades, and small arsenal of weapons for Guardians to chase. Turn your enemies into delicious treats, gift them to your favorite characters, and earn some exclusive rewards.
The Dawning is a great time for new and returning players to play, as this event is mostly passive and doesn’t require you to play any specific activities. If you’re looking to expand your arsenal or need to restock on upgrade currencies, this is the time to do it.
What Is The Dawning?
The Dawning is a holiday event that runs fromDecember 10 to December 31.Eva Levante is back this year with her signature holiday oven and winter-themed festivities. Turn the enemies of the Traveler into delicious treats for your favorite characters, earning Dawning Gifts and other event rewards to commend your generosity.
In gameplay terms,the Dawning lets you turn slain enemies into holiday treats.Turning in these treats to the right vendor will award gifts you can redeem for upgrade materials, valuable currencies, and even weapons exclusive to the Dawning. It’s a fairly passive event that doesn’t require you to grind certain playlists to reap the rewards. Simply kill enemies in any playlist to gather ingredients, use Eva’s Holiday Oven to bake some treats, and give them to your favorite vendors for some sweet rewards.
Baking Cookies
Before you’re able to bake some holiday goods, you’ll need an oven first. Fortunately, Eva Levante has plenty to spare. You can find her in theTower Courtyardright next to spawn. Speak with her about the joys of gift-giving to get your hands onEva’s Holiday Oven 2.4.You can access it from the inventory tab of your character menu, which is the same place where youactivate Tonics.
From this menu, you’ll be able to check through your current list of holiday recipes and ingredients. Each recipe requires three ingredients:
How To Earn Dawning Ingredients
Uncommoningredients drop from slain PvE enemies. The faction you kill determines what type of uncommon ingredient they drop. For example, Fallen can drop Ether Cane, while Vex units drop Vex Milk. Bear in mind that no uncommon ingredient exists for the Dread.
Rareingredients drop when you eliminate enemies with a certain type of weapon or damage type. Sword and Glaive kills grant Sharp Flavor, Void kills grant Null Taste, and so on.
Earning Essence Of Dawning
Finally, all treats require 15Essence of Dawningto bake. You’ll earn Essence of Dawning by completing activities during the Dawning. The longer and more difficult the activity, the more Essence you’ll typically earn. In general, your best bet is to farm Heroic Public Events, Lost Sectors, and ritual content—Vanguard Ops, Crucible, and Gambit.
Masterworking Your Oven
Learning every Dawning recipe will Masterwork Eva’s Holiday Oven, reducing all future Essence costs from 15 to 12. This lasts until the end of the event.
Recipes carry over between events. If you Masterworked your oven last year, you only need to bake Neomun-Pie to upgrade it this year.

All Dawning 2024 Recipes
If you’ve played the Dawning in previous years, the recipes are the same as before. Bungie added a new recipe calledNeomun-Pie for Nimbus, but otherwise it’s the same as before. Make one of every recipe to Masterwork your oven, reducing the Essence of Dawning cost for all future treats.
Dawning Event Upgrades
Completing weekly bounties from Eva Levante and opening Dawning Gifts will sometimes awardDawning Spirit, a unique event currency used to unlock Dawning-themed upgrades from Eva. These range from gameplay buffs toStasis subclassesto reward upgrades for all future Dawning weapons, forcing them to drop with additional perks in each column.
Free Dawning Spirit
For Dawning 2020 players, reclaim theStarfarer 7Mship from your Collections tab. This will passively generate Dawning Spirit as you earn ingredients during the event.
This ship can be found in the “Equipment” section of your Collections tab. Check the “Season 12” tab of your ship collection.
Unlocks access to the Limited Gift Exchange focusing options.
Perky Presents
Dawning weapons have a chance to drop with an additional perk in the left column.
Perkier Presents
Dawning weapons have a chance to drop with an additional perk in the right column.
Shattering frozen combatants causes them to drop snowballs.
Dawning Rewards
This year’s Dawning has six weapons up for grabs and an exclusive Memento. TheDawning Memento can be acquired upon completing the “Winter Night” quest, obtained from Eva Levante once you bake your first treat and gift it to Zavala. Once completed, future Dawning Mementos can be obtained from opening Dawning Gifts, albeit with a low drop chance.
Weapons from this event are obtained fromDawning Engrams, which you can obtain from Eva Levante’s focusing options in the Tower.You can exchange them for a random Dawning weapon, but if you’re chasing a certain reward, you’ll want to focus the giftinto a specific weapon instead.Doing so will consume the gift and 25 Dawning Spirit.
