Summary

Dungeons & Dragonsactual play seriesCritical Rolehas been expanding into new territory over the last few years, namely withthe animated web series The Legend of Vox Machina, but it might go even further with its own dedicated video game.

“We’ve been talking about creating a video game since we first started playing together,” Laura Bailey revealed in an interview withRolling Stone.

“I would say it’s an active pursuit on our end,” Travis Willingham added. “The last few years we have been having necessary conversations to figure out how to do that smartly. It’s an entire enterprise that’s separate from what we do on Beacon, Twitch, or YouTube, it’s separate from the animated series and comes with its understanding that has to be undertaken.”

Critical Role Might Announce Something Soon

We’ll have to wait and see, but it’s worth noting that the Critical Role cast are no strangers to gaming. Bailey is well known for playing Mary Jane Watson and Abby inSpider-ManandThe Last of Usrespectively. Willingham meanwhile voices Raiden inMortal Kombat, Wilson Fisk in Spider-Man, and even Knuckles in myriadSonicgames.

These collaborations we’ve had with various partners have been little toe dips in the pool just to see how it feels.

Matthew Mercer is another key figure at Critical Role, and he has likewise voiced a slew of iconic characters fromResident Evil’sLeon Kennedy to Vincent Valentine inFinal Fantasy 7 Rebirth.

That’s not to mention that he played one of the companions in the newly released Dungeons & Dragons gameBaldur’s Gate 3— Minsc. And Larian Studios' award-winning hit isdoing even better this yearthan when it launched last August.

Understandably then, Hasbro and Wizards of the Coast have both expressed interest incapitalising on this success with even more games, so what better than Critical Role jumping in on the action?
