Summary

LongtimeCall of DutyZombies fans know that the ongoing storyline in the game is nothing to laugh about. It’s actually pretty darn well-written, with each map providing some more lore for the larger world.

That said, not everyone has been able to experience the story. It’s not for a lack of trying either, but to see a map’s story through to the end, requires a bit of skill and some luck. Because it’s tied into actually surviving and progressing through the map, some players either don’t have the skill to last that long or a friend group to partner with.

However, beginning withBlack Ops 6,Treyarchdecided to change that. In addition to offering a Standard Mode,Treyarch also outlined plans for a Directed Mode, which will help players see the game’s story in a far more forgiving setting. Flash forward to today and Directed Mode is finally here.

Everyone Can Have Fun

As announced on Twitter, Directed Mode for Black Ops 6’s first two Zombies maps (Terminus and Liberty Falls) has arrived.Previously, Treyarch relayed that the mode wouldn’t be available until players had a chance to discover every nook and cranny of the map without the need for a guide. Once that was achieved, then Directed Mode could make its way into the game for those in need of a helping hand.

Per Treyarch’s tweet, the Directed Mode caps the game at Round 15, meaning the harder zombies that usually come around late into a run will not be present. More so, Side Quests and S.A.M. Trials will be disabled, and Rampage Inducer will not be around to activate.

Instead, players will be able to focus in on the main quest with built-in guidance to help them see it to the end. And just so that Directed Mode players won’t feel left out, there will still be XP rewards, as well as Calling Cards and Weapon Charms. Special rewards also have been added for those opting to play on Standard.

The end result is a mode that is way more accessible than previous iterations. And with the Zombies storyline progressively heating up, there’s no better time than now to jump in. Only time will tell if Treyarch or Activision opt to revive previous maps with Directed Mode, so that players can go through those, too. But for now, it’s a start in the right direction.
