Summary

It’s long been rumoured thatCall of Duty: Black Ops 2 was supposed to get one last Zombies DLC adding every single map from the original Black Ops and World at War, except for Call of the Dead.

This idea was reportedly repurposed into Chronicles for Black Ops 3, which likewise added a bunch of old maps.

After over a decade, we finally have confirmation that such an expansion was in development, as MrPinball64 has uncovered two builds of the game that include the unreleased DLC 5.

YouTubers Riley541 and Galaxy have since dug into these builds and managed to capture footage ofKino der Totenrunning in Black Ops 2, which you’re able to see below.

The map is clearly a work in progress, with garish purple placeholder textures over the Nazi memoribilia in the theatre. And since Black Ops 2 launched just two years after its predecessor, it doesn’t lookthat much different anyway.

But the hook for a DLC of this scope was that you’d havenearly every Zombies map in one game, not that they’d be major overhauls.

The Leak Also Includes An Early Build Of Origins

Another interesting detail in the leak is that it contains the first playable build of Origins, a now-iconic map. You can see it in action inRiley541’s video here.

It’s incredibly familiar if you’ve played the map before, but it’s worth noting that the church area is radically different (the generator is inside), and it even features the scrapped village.

It’s a shame that Call of the Dead appears to be stuck in the original Black Ops (aside from Tag der Toten in Black Ops 4), but perhaps one day that’ll change with the fabled Chronicles 2 that so many fans have been asking for.
