EA Sports FC 25’s Rigid Backbone Evolution upgrades players' pace, passing, defending, and physicality stats in Ultimate Team. The target players in this evolution are box-to-box midfielders and defenders, and with these upgraded stats, their offensive and defensive gameplay are levelled up.

To get your hand on this evolution, be ready to spend 55,000 coins or 400 FC points to unlock it. After unlocking, you’re able to choose the player you want to evolve, but verify they meet the requirements. Some of the requirements are max 87 overall, max 91 pace, and max 98 passing.

7Jorginho

Jorge Luiz Frello Filho has constantly been among thebest defensive midfielders in the game, and his ball-playing style makes it easy for his teammates to dominate the game. He has a card with great offensive and defensive abilities, which helps him as a box-to-box midfielder.

Thanks to his versatility, you can choose to play him either as a defensive midfielder, or a central midfielder, and you get to exploit his newly upgraded attacking and defending stats. His anticipation playstyle plus support his defensive side, as he can assist his defenders by predicting opponents' moves and intercepting them before reaching his box.

6Marek Hamšík

The recently retired Slovak hero, Marek Hamšík, gets an amazing evolution card with well-rounded stats in ultimate team. The hero retired from playing in 2023, and now pursues a role as a manager. That aside, his card has great attacking and defending attributes, which makes him have a high work rate on the pitch as he tries to cover every area possible.

Putting Hamšík’s hero card through the Rigid Backbone Evolution will take his 87 rating to an 89 overall. After completing the challenges, he comes out with 88 pace, 88 defending, 88 physicality, 87 shooting, 87 passing, 86 dribbling, four-star skill moves, and five-star weak foot accuracy.

5Micky Van De Ven

Dutch player Micky van de Ven is arguably one of thebest centre backs in the game, and his evolved card makes him a firm contender you should have in your lineup. Of all his evolved cards in Ultimate Team, this is the one card that gives him a great defending and attacking attributes.

His pace, defending, and physical presence, helps him win tackles from any opponent, no matter their rating in the game, and this gives him an edge when facing tough opponents. His jockey playstyle plus makes it difficult for opponents to trick him, which means your defensive line is in the safe hands of the Dutch defender.

4Joules Koundé

If you need a solid right back to guard the right flank, then evolving Joules Koundé’s card will be the best idea. The French player has the defending ability, pace, passing, and dribble to be able to keep his area safe, and also overlap and support whenever his team are on the counter.

Koundé is also another great player with the jockey playstyle plus, and getting past him won’t be an easy task. After putting his card through the evolution, his new stats are 88 pace, 88 defending, 88 physicality, 45 shooting, 87 passing, 75 dribbling, three-star skill moves, and four-star weak foot accuracy.

3Trent Alexander-Arnold

Another player you can deploy on the right flank is Trent John Alexander-Arnold, and he is without a doubt one of thebest right backs in FC 25. The English man is known for his pace and precise passing ability, and with the evolved version of his card, you can easily deliver accurate passes and crosses into your opponents' box.

If you play a three-man defense, then playing Arnold as a defensive midfielder will be a great option as he can help guard the defensive line from the opponent’s attack. His attacking wingback+ role allows the defender to push forward and offer width while his teammates are attacking.

2Marcos Llorente

The Spanish midfielder, Marcos Llorente Moreno, gets a good card with great offensive and defensive stats, and he’s quite versatile, to say the least. Llorente is capable of playing as a central midfielder, a right back, a right-winger, or a right midfielder. So, depending on your formation and playstyle, he’ll fit right in.

Having a pacey player gives you an advantage in tight situations, and Llorente’s evolved card has the right amount of speed to help him avoid defenders and get into the box. Whenever he loses possession of the ball, his card can immediately follow up with that player and win back the ball he lost.

1Frenkie De Jong

The Dutch player, Frenkie de Jong, occupies the top position as the best pick in the Rigid Backbone Evolution, and he’s also one of the best midfielders in LaLiga. He takes the first spot as his card has an overpowered attacking and defending rating in Ultimate Team.

The box-to-box midfielder has well-rounded card stats as well as a great playstyle plus which supports his shooting and passing stats. His trivela playstyle plus allows him to deliver outside of the foot passes, and he can also take shots which will be difficult for goalkeepers to reach.
