Professors Research Pokemon TCG Pocket Card Art.

10Professor’s Research

Draw Two Cards

You will find most of the generic Item cards as part of Promo-A. However, there are a few that are better than the others. Professor’s Research can be bought from the Shop for two Shop Tickets but is available to you from the start of the game.

This card lets you draw two cards and is a must-have in every deck. This boosts consistency so that you see your Evolution Pokemon more often, and you’re able to dig through your deck for other essentials that can flip the game state.

Red Card Pokemon TCG Pocket Card Art.

9Red Card

A Counter For Evolution Decks

Red Card is a powerful tool against any deck that wants to reach Stage 2 Pokemon. This card lets you shuffle your opponent’s entire hand back into the deck, and then they get to draw three new cards.

If your opponent has a powerful stage two Pokemon in their hand, and they will be able to Evolve during their next turn, Red Card has the potential to take that card away and force them to draw into it again. This buys you time to keep hitting your opponent before their Basic and Stage one Pokemon get a massive HP increase.

The Pokeball card art in Pokemon TCG Pocket.

8Poke Ball

An Essential Promo Card

Poke Ball is also another card that is easily accessible through the shop. It lets you put one random Basic Pokemon from your deck into your hand. While this doesn’t let you choose your targets, you can still thin the deck using it.

If you have another card that lets you look ahead to see what card you will draw next, you can use Poke Ball to shuffle the deck after getting your Basic Pokemon in hand. So, if you don’t like what comes next, you can hope for a better hit by using this.

The Potion card in Pokemon Pocket.

7Potion

Healing Goes A Long Way

Potion is another promo card that you want at least one copy of in your deck. It heals 20 damage from one of your Pokemon. This has the potential to stall the game for another turn. So, if your opponent would knock out one of your Pokemon on the next Move, now they might be short of the firepower needed.

One extra turn buys you plenty of advantages. That’s one more draw, one more Energy from the Energy Zone, one more Ability use, and one more attack you may land on your opponent.

The Chansey promo card from the Wonder Pick Event Part 1.

6Chansey

A Chance Chansey

If you’re lucky, you might just pull a Chansey from the Wonder Pick system. This Chansey is an alternate art variant that is part of the Chansey event. It features a unique icon on the bottom right of the art box.

While notthe most competitive of cards, Chansey is a good wall for your opponent to keep hitting while you get your Benched Pokemon ready with Energy and Evolutions. The only downside is that it has a costly Retreat Cost, which means you might lose a point while doing setup.

Pokemon TCG Pocket Mankey card.

5Mankey

Making Itself Angry

The Promo Mankey that can be pulled from Promo-A packs is a much better version of the base card found in Genetic Apex. While it has ten less health, it has a more powerful Move in the form of Reckless Charge.

This Move does 30 damage for one Energy. While it has ten recoil damage, this is beneficial for the Primeape strategy since Primeape needs some form of damage before it can dish out 100 damage per hit. This is infinitely better than letting your opponent hit you first to fulfill this condition.

The Meowth promo from the Wonder Pick Event Part 1.

4Meowth

A Mischievous Depiction

Another Pokemon that you’re able to find as part of the Chansey picks is Meowth. With so much Meowth decor available as rewards during the event, it also gives you a more mischievous-looking Meowth for your collection.

This card also features the Chansey icon on the art box. It also doesn’t change the effect of Pay Day, which lets you deal ten damage and draw a card for one Energy. This is a good card for Evolution decks, which require you to dig through your deck quicker to get to your best Pokemon.
