Titanfall 2 may not be as alive as it used to be, but it is stillone of the most creative premises for an FPS. You are fighting humans who pilot giant mechanical suits. After a while, you can call down one of your own Titans that can dominate the field with missiles, lasers, and bullets.
Nothing is cooler than seeing two giant robots fighting it out with weapons or in hand-to-hand combat. Titanfall 2 also has a campaign if you’re interested in a more narrative experience.
One fantastic remake with a combination of both mutants and robots is System Shock. After a rogue AI takes control of a space station, it turns all the robots hostile. Even the crew members are transformed into horrific mutants and deadly cyborgs that want the player dead.
System Shock is anotherboomer shooter with plenty of actionto keep a trigger-happy player fully engaged. The sci-fi horror elements also make this one of the scarier games to include robotic enemies, so watch your back.
Axiom Verge 2 is both a sequel and a narrative prequel to the original game. This time you are exploring the world of Kiengir which is split between parallel dimensions. You play as Indra, who is searching for her daughter while also unleashing a series of consciousness bonded to weapons known as Arms.
You will need to use these abilities to unlock new paths, discover new unlockables, and defeat the cybernetic enemies that inhabit both dimensions. Reaching the end of this Metroidvania might just leave you more enlightened about the overall lore of Axiom Verge.
NieR: Automata remains one of the best games to include robots as enemies, sinceit also explores the complexity of AI trying to be human. On a surface level, NieR: Automata has you playing as 2B and 9S as you fight back against an alien threat.
However, most of the enemies you fight are robots that have begun to mimic human concepts such as government, reproduction, love and more. This, however, leads to their downfall as humanity is incompatible with machines. If you love fighting robots and having deep thoughts, this is the game to play.
It’s funny that, despite having no actual combat, Portal 2 manages to pit you against two ofthe most iconic robots in gaming. Glados constantly wants revenge by forcing you to complete test chambers until you eventually die.
Meanwhile, Wheatley is a loveable idiot who becomes corrupted with near godlike scientific knowledge but misuses it due to his own programming. There are even creative turret robots that you’re able to’t always fight and need to find a clever way to bypass using the Portal Gun.
