Summary

Classes are the bread and butter ofRomancing Saga 2: Revenge of the Seven, integral to your succession to the throne many times. With so many different classes, it’s natural that you will only get to some of them in one playthrough. There are two classes that you activelycannotget in the same playthrough.

However, if you don’t have time to play the game multiple times, you’ll want to check out this list of classes you should focus on to give you the best advantage of making it to the endgame. Of course, this isn’t a definitive list; you are highly encouraged to experiment and find what works for you.

The light infantry unit is on the right side of the screen, with their stats to the left of them, and the rest of their retinue all the way left of the screen.

9Light Infantry

Great For Early-Game Offensive Techniques

Classes that have you choose a gender bring different skills depending on which you choose. With Light Infantry, though each gender does other things, you can’t go wrong with choosing either one. Each gender’s passives do the following:

Though their base stats will be lower than those of more robust classes, this is the only class whose weapon skills scale with your global skill level. Even in mid to late game, you can throw them into battle in a pinch, and they’d still do decent damage. Suitable for an early-game class.

Freelance Mage is on the right side of the screen, next to her stats and the retinue list on the far left.

8Freelance Mage

Limited Spark Potential, But Amazing BP Recovery

Mages in Revenge of the Seven can be a mixed bag. You must invest a lot of time battling them to hit their potential. Just as before, the male and female differences between the gendered class stand out with their excellent BP recovery abilities:

Sure, there are better candidates for the strongest mage, but the freelance mage’s speed, especially during early-game combat, can be the quickfire cannon you need to get you through a tough fight.

The female ranger is on the right side of the screen, next to her is her stats on the left, and the retinue on the furthest left.

7Ranger

You Can’t Go Wrong With Either Version

Rangers make up for their lack of strength with their utility in a fight. They can hit their target faster due to their high dexterity value while safely tucked away in the back unless the current formation being used demands otherwise. However, the strength of this unit isn’t what lands this class on the list; it’s the utility. The best abilities to learn from each gender in this class are as follows:

These skills are vital, but only if you’re the type of player who loves to inflict status effects onto enemies every turn, keeping them weak and vulnerable to your damage. If not, it would be understandable if you didn’t use them. Just remember that most bossesarevulnerable to various effects as well.

6Diviner

A Good Class That Comes From Sacrifice

You must unlock and level a Divinerif you’re going for a magic build. They are the catalyst for your party to learn Umbrology, and if you miss them somehow, your chances of unlocking the subset of spells grow incredibly slim. However, you’ll have to sacrifice an entire island of people through a volcanic eruption to gain this power.

Is the classworth the sacrifice? It depends on how you like to use magic. The other class you lose can balance fire damage and give supporting heals. In contrast, Umbrology gives you seriously deadly power and the ability to shapeshift into elemental monsters when fused with various elements.

5Salamander

When you play with fire, make sure everything in your path burns. If you forgo the Diviner class and decide to save Comroon Island from its fate of fiery demise instead, you’ll be rewarded with the Salamander class. The Salamander class excels in fire, but it’s also a highly physical class. Their weapons of choice are the Axe or good old-fashioned fists.

As powerful as they are, Salamanders are held back by how situational their kit is. You have an advantage if pyrology is involved on either side of the field. However, outside those situations, they can find themselves at a disadvantage.

4Imperial Blacksmith

A Perfect Fit For The Remake

A new addition to the remake, the Imperial Blacksmith has quickly grown to be a fan favorite for a myriad of reasons. Once unlocked, by finding all five of her pure iron ore, you are given a unit with excellent starting strength and great potential to be one of the most potent heavy hitters in the game.

Smithy’s passive ability gives a ten percent boost to both her weapon attack power and her armor defense, turning her, and any other heavy armored character, into an inevitable powerhouse. The Blacksmith can spark abilities from Maces and Axes, both heavy hitters. The unlock quest could put you off due to how tedious it seems, but it’s well with the effort.

Liger, the martial artist, is on the right side of the screen next to his stats. The rest of the retinue is on the far right in Romancing Saga 2: Revenge of the Seven.

3Martial Artist

Quick And Powerful Strikes

The hand that strikes first is the winner, and having a martial artist in your retinue all but guarantees your victory. For starters, it does decent damage on its own, but the class is also great at glimmering martial arts techniques at a decently high rate, crucial when you’re still early in the game.

The best thing the martial artist brings to the table is its ability, Tech Damage+. This ability gives any technique a ten percent boost in power. Because it’s any technique, it opens up a world of possibilities for all members to gain a significant boost.

2Strategist

A Master Of Magic And Strategy

Just as Martial Artists can offer a boost to all attacks, Strategists can act as the powerful backbone of any caster you want to add to your party. The Strategist can specialize in all schools of magic, making them highly versatile and an easy choice to keep in your party. But, they also have an excellent passive under their sleeve.

Spell Damage+ does precisely what you think it does. It adds a ten percent boost to all magic attacks made by the caster. Ten percent doesn’t sound like much, but if it equals one less turn your retinue is vulnerable to damage or death, then it’s worth it.

1Final Emperor/Empress

After generations and generations of fighting the Seven and bringing the land of Avalon together under your kingdom, and after several incarnations of that dream, your last chance arrives when you take the throne as the Final Emperor. Not only does unlocking the final ruler signify your peak in power, but it also signifies that you are now in the end game.

They have the best stats compared to your other emperors by default, but it’s ultimately up to how you’ve cultivated your hero’s skills using the inheritance system. If you’ve done your due diligence, you will have the strongest retinue in the kingdom to finish off the final heroes.
