Summary
Satisfactorytakes you on a journey as an engineer for the FISCIT corporation where you are tasked with building a factory on an alien planet. However, as you venture into the game, you will quickly realize that building a factory is not just about putting together giant machines, it also involves collecting resources all around the massive expanse.
Some of the best areas in the game to exploreand gather resources are in caves, which are subterranean areas scattered all over the map. They provide valuable resources and rare items which can enhance the course of your factory-building journey. The caves often feature scenic spots with impressive views and passages. The following are some of the most captivating caves in Satisfactory, highlighting their distinctive features, valuable resources, and the unique experiences they offer.
8Quartz Cave
The Quartz Cave is one of the best caves in Satisfactory due to thehigh concentration of valuable resources. This is located in the rocky desert biome, not far from the Grass Fields and the Dune Desert. The main entrance can be found on the cliff face near some coal deposits.
Inside the cave, you’ll find multiple Quartz nodes, including pure nodes, which you can use to produce items such as silica and crystal oscillators. You will also find unique flora and fauna such as bioluminescent plants that give a glowing atmosphere, and Power Slugs useful for overclocking. Before exploring this cave, you should get a gas mask to protect yourself from toxic gas, and be cautious of aggressive spiders present here.
7Waterfall Cave
The Waterfall Cave is located in the Dune Desert biome, hidden behind a large waterfall. This area can be tricky to access without the special maneuver tools available, soyou may want to unlock kits such as the Zipline before going into the cave. It contains iron, limestone, and sometimes copper deposits, making it anideal location for mid-game to late-game resource extraction setups.
Although it’s not a high-threat area, the cave occasionally has Spitters and other creatures.
The Waterfall Cave also houses one of the four Uranium nodes in the game, which is a valuable resource for advanced power generation. If you explore deeper into the cave, you may come across Yellow Power Slugs, which provide a convenient energy source for nearby operations. You may also encounter Mercer Spheres or Somersloops, which unlock additional research options in the M.A.M.
6Uranium Cave
You will find the Uranium Cave in the Northern Forest biome, and it is accessible through a rocky entrance often covered by foliage. This cave houses large uranium deposits essential for producing nuclear fuel rods. This cave also contains sulfur, quartz, and limestone in nearby areas, which can support other advanced production.
Its expansive layout provides ample space for building and organizing mining operations, suitable for large-scale production. You can use conveyor belts or trucks to transport the uranium out of the cave. When venturing into this cave, be aware of Stingers that might be around the area.
5Fungus Cave
Located near the starting area, the Fungus Cave is easily accessible and doesn’t require significant exploration or combat. It is filled with mycelia and glowing mushrooms, creating a bioluminescent environment, and the shade below it contains blue power slugs along with two oil nodes.
This cave can serve as a strategic resource hub due to its proximity to key biomes, which makes it easier to transport rare resources back to the main factory setup. Unlike some other caves in the game, the Fungus Cave is relatively safe with fewer hostile creatures, making it easier to gather resources without constant attacks.
4Biofuel Cave
The Biofuel Cave is located in a relatively safe area in the Grass Fields, making itaccessible to new players without requiring specialized equipment or advanced technology to explore. The cave offers plenty of room to build a large-scale biofuel production facility, including storage tanks, refineries, and power generators.
There is agood supply of resources like biomass, water, and iron ore, which are essential for biofuel production. When exploring this cave, it is advisable to carry a chainsaw for quick gathering of wood and leaves. Due to its proximity to biomass resources, you should prioritize exploring this area for setting up your base structures early on.
3Crystal Cave
The Crystal Cave is visually impressive, with naturally glowing crystals, which give off a faint, beautiful blue and purple light. It is located in the Rocky Desert biome with entrances near the coast and near the river that divides the northern forest and the rocky desert.
This cave contains numerous resources, such as Limestone and Iron nodes, which are essential for factory expansionand early-game production. The cave is, however, prone to toxic gas clouds, so bringing a gas mask is highly recommended for safe exploration. You will also encounter a variety of hostile creatures like Spitters and Flying Crabs.
2Swamp Cave
The Swamp Cave is a large, open cave located behind the large waterfall in the Swamp biome. It is rich in essential resources, like Bauxite, Uranium, and Sulfur.Bauxite is valuable for producing aluminum, while Sulfur has applications in advanced production chains like explosives and nobelisk detonators.
The cave also contains Mycelia, useful for researching medical inhalers, which are helpful when in various caves without safety equipment. There are also several power slugs throughout the cave, which are useful for overclocking machinery.
1Bacon Agaric Cave
This cave has aplentiful supply of Beryl Nuts, which are essential for crafting and upgrading various items, and Bacon Agaric Mushrooms, which offer an instant health boost and are also part of some high-tier recipes. The cave itself is quite large and features a network of tunnels and chambers.
It also houses a variety of creatures, including the harmless Glowbugs and aggressive Cave Spiders. Situated in the Northern Forest, this cave is relatively accessible for new players and the surrounding area is ideal for setting up a base, since the natural supply of healing items andthe nearby raw materials support production lines make it a strategic choice for mid-game expansion.
