Summary
Arcane’ssecond season finally arrived and promptly blew up social media, because of course it did. It’s an extremely dramatic series with a very passionate fanbase, and reactions to certain scenes flooded onto sites like Twitter and Reddit hours after release, with one scene in particular grabbing attention.A certain scene that has Caitlyn and Vi getting it on in a jail cell.
If you’re an Arcane fan, or are just a casual League of Legends enjoyer, it’s very likely that your timeline over this past weekend has been filled with nothing but clips of Cait and Vi’s steamy scene, shared by extremely happy and flustered users. Certain sections of the Arcane fanbase were waiting for this scene for a while, though I shudder to think what the reaction would be if they got to see the extended cut.
Arcane Season 2’s Caitlyn And Vi Romance Scene Was Originally Even Spicier
Yes, it turns out the romance scene between Cait and Vi in that jail cell was supposed to be longer. This is according to series co-creator Christian Linke, who explainedin an interview with The Directthat the scene that we saw in the show was actually the “dialed back” version, and that it originally went on for quite a bit longer, but they were ultimately given a “slap on the wrist”.
Linke doesn’t mention who actually gave them the slap in question, though he does joke that “League of Legends is going to be rated mature now”. That kind of suggests that it wasLeague of LegendsdeveloperRiot Gamesthat did the slapping rather thanNetflix, possibly due to fears of portraying the game as raunchier and more mature than it actually is.
Later in the interview, the topic moves onto whether this extended romance scene between Caitlyn and Vi still exists and whether we’ll see it at some point, and Linke simply says “It is probably on some French hard drive. Director’s cut.” That sounds like more of a joke to me, but you know full well that there’s an army of Caitvi shippers out there that would fall over themselves to get their hands on that Director’s Cut. Just food for thought, Riot.
