Smite 2has anincredible wealth of characters, or in Smite’s case, Gods, to play as. There’s a lot to learn when it comes to playing each God, building them differently in fresh matches, toggling their God Aspects, learning how toplay different roles(sometimes with the same God), and more.

But Smite 2 has more to offer than just the standard MOBA experience. It’s got other game modes, too, many of which shake up the typical formula pretty drastically. Some of them are going to hone certain instincts to bring back to Conquest, while others are going to be fresh experiences entirely.

Conquest

Conquestis the game mode that’sgenerally considered the standard mode for a MOBA.

That sounds simple, and it is, but there’sa lot of strategy and variation inside that mode.

There arefive roles to fill every match, one for each player on the team.

Purpose

Carry

Plays in the Duo lane with Supportand deals heavy damage. In the late game, theCarry’s damage can often directly lead to a victory.

Support

Plays in the Duo lane with the Carryand istasked with keeping the Carry alive.

Mid-Lane

Plays the Middle lane, oftentimes alone. Theyneed to be able to self-sustain, and keep the middle clear for allies to rotate through the map.

Solo

Plays the Right lane, again mostly solo. They need to be self-sufficient, good at multiple different things andwin their engagements with the other enemy Solo.

Jungler

The Jungler doesn’t play in a lane too much, as they spend a lot of time in the Jungle between lanes. Theygain advantages and buffs for their allies in the Jungleand jump out to ambush enemies when the opportunity arises.

Normal And Ranked

There’s aNormal Conquest playlistand aRanked Conquest playlist.

to access the Rankedmode, you’llneed to have access to 12 Gods. This is to ensure you’ll always have a God to play since nine others could already be selected and two others banned if you were last in the order to choose.

Playing Against AI

If you’re looking to try something out without much pressure, you’re able to alwaysplay against the AI. This mode matches you up with four other actual players, and all of youplay against a team of AI enemies.

These enemies aren’t necessarily pushovers, and you can’t always sleepwalk through this moe. But, it should still pretty much always end in a victory.

Tutorial

There’s also aConquest Tutorialavailable, which walks you through the basic points of Conquest in-game.

Arena

Arenais a massively simplified version of a MOBA.

Killing enemies reduces the enemy team’s score, as doesleading your own minions into the portal on the other side.

This isnot going to teach you the finer pointsof playing a role in Smite 2, but itwill teach you how to hold your own in combatagainst enemy Gods fairly quickly.

You can play this mode against the AI, with real-player teammates, just like Conquest.

There is also aguided tutorial for this modein-game, walking you through all the basics. There are less moving parts than in Conquest here, and it should be able to get picked up pretty quickly.

Joust

Joustis amiddle-ground between Conquest and Arena. It offers more strategy than the latter but a faster pace than the former.

While thisshares some strategy similarities to Conquest, it’sgoing to have teamfights for the majority of the game, because of it being a single lane and one Jungle.

The Arena versus AI playlist in Smite 2.

You can play Joust with two other real people andagainst three AI enemies.

Assault

Assaultis very similar to Joust, in regard to the map, with some notable differences.

This is agood mode for learning how different Gods workmechanically, but itdoes not prepare you for understanding how that God will necessarily fit into a rolein Conquest.

Duel

Duelis also very similar to Joust.

You’ll getintimately familiar with your God in Duel, as well asvery familiar with fighting against the opposing God. It can prepare you somewhat for playing in the Solo or Middle lane in Conquest.

Practice

Practiceloads you into a training area. It contains:

This is not really a mode to practice the mechanics of Conquest other than understanding how attacking a Tower works, attacking a Titan works, and how minions work. It is, however, agreat place to get a very basic understanding of how a God functions.

Here, you canautomatically level yourself up to level 20,get rid of ability cooldowns, try different builds, andsee how it all affects your damage, healing, and other mechanics.

You can load into the practice area through the Play menu or by selecting the Practice option when inspecting one of the Gods.
